Capturing landscape and place in paint and stitch

I am a textile artist working in paint and thread - landscapes and artworks inspired by nature around me, especially the chalk paths and soft rolling grasslands of the South Downs and the light of the Sussex coast.
Pieces are worked over natural materials:- calico, silks and found scraps, layered for a textured background, painted and then stitched using free motion embroidery and my trusty ancient Bernina machine.
My art is about preserving that moment that stops you in your tracks, that shaft of light, that splash of colour or the angle of a line of trees. Brief moments giving joy and living long in memory, with the final embroidery as a happy reminder for your home.
I am a resident artist at Seasons Gallery, part of the East Beach Studios collective at Worthing seafront and have been invited to exhibit at Ramster Embroidery Exhibition since 2017.
I frequently work to commission, be it a favourite view or place, a house portrait or a wedding venue, to commemorate a loved place or to provide a momento for a special event. I also run small workshops from home at the foot of the Downs in Worthing.
